current mood: hopeful

Hey everyone!

My little hiatus from this beloved community of mine is slowly coming to an end. And I apologize to everyone for sort of leaving everyone hanging.... especially if you've been following my fanfic.

Life has been super crazy for the past 6 months to a year. I planned a wedding, got married, went on a honeymoon, had to move from apartment to apartment, my temp job ended and I had to find a new job, my hubby and I are now pregnant and planning for that, hubby got a job that's causing us to uproot from California and travel cross-country, my sister is getting married in October and I'm her Matron of Honor so I've been helping her with that and planning her bridal shower (which is this weekend) AND of course I've been doing quite a bit of traveling (all family-related). So yes. Life has been completely INSANE... but all with good stuff! :-)

Anyway, our packing up for our cross-country move is nearing its end and I've been dying to get back into my Riddick fanfic. Those of you following along and hopefully enjoying it will be glad to hear that... or at least I hope you are! EEEP! I've written, in full (though I'll probably self revise a few more times before sending it all off to a beta-reader.... I can only hope that my beloved eustacia_vye28 will continue to want to beta for me as it's been forever) chapters 7 - 9 and I'm about half way through chapter 10. I'm sort of on a roll. I even wrote out the conclusion, which I will say opens itself up for a sequel. So anyway, you can guess what I've been doing in my spare time... ie breaks from packing, making phone calls to movers, etc.... yep, WRITING!

That all said, I hope everyone is well.... and of course keeping the love for Riddick alive!

I'm definitely down for more beta reading. I'll just have to reread the prior chapters first to remember the storyline. ^_^;

YAYAYAY.... seeing you say this has totally made my day! I've been on quite a roll lately, though I still need to revise and revise and revise before I send anything off to you. Every time I reread one of the newer chapters I end up adding, changing, whatever-ing to it! Besides, I want to make your eyes bleed as little as possible once you finally get it! ;-)

But anyway, it's coming along... got chapters 7 - 9 more or less written out and chapter 10 will be done soon from the way things are going. When I send you the stuff, I'll go into some details about some of the issues I'm facing and trying to convey and all that good stuff...... and knowing you, you'll be nice and constructive and thus make me better at both writing and telling my story! *loves you for that*

Outside of that.... how's everything going? Life as hectic for you as it is for me???

*hugs you again just because*

Oh man, I had no idea outpatient work was just as stressful as ER work. Tho it's in paperwork, not in aggravating stupidity. :) So I've been offline more than on in the past few months. There's the latest scandal regarding 6A that popped up in the past few days, so I did create new journal names at greatestjournal and insanejournal. I've bookmarked the ways to back up my current journal. i don't want to leave LJ, tho, since all my friends are here. we'll see how it plays. I'll feel better with teh backups, since i have one or two ficlets I didn't write on my computer, so this is the only place they're saved. it's more for my own continuity, anyway.

Yep..... crazy like mine!

Scandal?!?! What????? When did this happen........ see, I've been out of it for so long I'm totally lost on everything with everyone. It's so sad. Slowly I'm getting back into it, but I won't be able to get truly back into the swing until after my move. Anyway, I hope everything is all right.... definitely point the way to your other journals (just e-mail me.... tis the same, not changing any time soon either... heeee!) as I have a GJ too. Though I haven't been on that in EONS! Never really did a whole lot their either for the same reasons you said.... not many of my friends are over there and those few who are aren't all that active there either.

Moon Maiden

If you go over to lj_biz and poke through even the first two pages of the nonsense, that should outline the latest thing. Apparently, a bunch of HP artists had all of their accounts banned after someone complained the slash art was underage, which it wasn't. then fandom went crazy. 6A staff replied, which whipped fandom into a frothy frenzy, and their comments don't sound so good. So I'm just being overly careful. it'll likely take eons before fic gets TOS'd anyway. :)

Geez! That's crazy! Did they send you a message specifically.... is that how you know you're involved in it? Or does anyone and everyone involved in HP fandom have to worry about this nonsense? Talk about crazy!

Ohhh and I got your e-mail!

they didn't send anyone any e-mail. I only saw the whole thing by chance. and after reading the replies and the hysteria, I figure I might as well play it safe in case anyone does decide that fanfic isn't okay. I have a few characters in their teens, after all. If they decide to be strict, those fics have got to go. and if they don't differentiate between characters that have been aged up and those that aren't, even my d/g fics might not be okay.

*shrugs* I don't think I'm in any immediate danger. but it helps to be safe, if only because some stories I don't have on my hard drive, but had typed directly into LJ.

WOW! I read some of the posts and it has me thinking I ought to do the same. Like you, I've got heaps of fic that could potentially be taken down because of that. Granted, the two fic where Draco and Ginny are teens, they are like 16 and 17..... but that's still underage. The rest, like you said, has them much older... in their 20s. Hrmmmm.... something to think about for sure. I think I have most of them on my old HD on my old computer, but better to save in more than one place I always say. YIKES!

FF 'verse

exactly. if they don't think teens are okay, then backups are in order, just in case. Myn doesn't think fic will be on the chopping block right away. I say that gives me time to figure out which alternative should be home. :)

Damn I hate censorship..... I'd rather that they have us place them in a "fic journal" and then have us block them and do a screening process where you make sure that your readers are 18 or older. If the teen sex is of older teens and done in a non-malicious way, I don't see why they should create such a tizzy about it. Now, if they were like 13, 14 or younger... I could understand it.

What I find hilarious is that no one seems to think of Shakespeare as child porn...... his stuff isn't banned or considered illegal. And isn't Romeo and Juliet about two 14 year olds having quite an illicit love affair.... sex and all??? Hrmmmm....... interesting, no? I swear. People like to get the underwear tied in knots just because. It's like people need something to get worked up about. ARGH!

Anyway, I hope Shar is right about fanfic having a bit of a breather before they start cracking down on it. I'm not surprised that fanart got smacked first seeing as it's visual and can thus be seen straight away... it's not like they have to read heaps of words to figure out the gist of what's going on. *sigh*

in other words, we need to write more storyporn. ;)

I wonder what sort of comments we'd get if we actually did that! :-)

Lenore with Halo

well, if it's anything like the other fics i've written, it would be along the lines of "More, please!"

I think I'll add some hawt sex to the fics I'm working on now. Just because I can. ;)

being evil

well, the source of it is. the real problem is that they're being shifty about it, hence the fear of mass deletions.

after discussing the issue with Hubby this morning, he told me that yes, my teen!sex in fics is technically child porn. ^^; so yeah, I'll be backing things up, prolly by the weekend, when I have some free time. who knew a hobby like fanfic could be so stressful? :D

I know it.... it's truly amazing, isn't it? I think I'm going to take your lead and back my stuff up as well. Better safe than sorry. And I don't like the shiftiness either... not good. *sigh*

I do understand that teen!sex, if they're under 18 anyway, is technically child porn, but it's not like a majority of people write teen with adult (meaning serious adult) or anything icky like that. Most write about the characters as older individuals... years later. Heck, even those who I know were into Snape/Hermione wrote them well after Hermione graduated from Hogwarts! And though it might be pushing the envelop a little, she was written of age. The whole thing is just..... ugh! I guess, some I get, some I don't. And I still say that they ought to remember Shakespeare! ;-)

Anyway, now with the HP series being over.... I have a feeling the fandom is going to die down considerably. And that's ok in my opinion. It'll allow other fandoms to develop and gain recognition. Besides, I've been sort of weary of the HP fandom lately anyway.... sure, I still love my D/G, but I'm not as into it. I'd rather read other stuff..... like Riddick! HAHAHA!!! Too bad there aren't many Riddick/Eve shippers out there. Sometimes I think I'm the only one..... and perhaps maybe the select few who read my fic are Riddick/Eve shippers too. But I haven't come across anything shipping them save my own fic! LOLOL!

i think it's because there's not much to go on for Eve. She's a merc and tough enough to be the only woman on that ship, but that's all you really know for certain. there's too much of her that you have to make up for yourself. that's not necessarily a bad thing for ficcing, but there's already too many unknown variables in the Riddickverse. the lack of backstory is fine for a movie, but when you need to pin it down with fic, there's too much stuff up in the air. not too many writers would want to tread that path. :)

and I'm still writing d/g. (right now, as a matter of fact!) the epilogue does not exist for me. even if i wasn't a shipper, it wouldn't exist simply because it's so horrifically horrible. :D
